Stuart Spechler, MD, AGAF, FACG has treated, researched and published extensively on diseases of the esophagus including gastroesophageal reflux disease, Barrett's esophagus, eosinophilic esophagitis and esophageal motility disorders such as achalasia.
Dr. Spechler attended medical school at Boston University School of Medicine in Massachusetts. His internship and residency took place at Boston VA Medical Center. He returned to Boston University for his fellowship in gastroenterology and joined the staff of the Boston VA Medical Center where he served as Associate Chief of the Division of Gastroenterology until 1990.
He is widely renowned as an expert in diseases of the esophagus with a plethora of awards and honors, medical memberships and offices, editorial boards, awarded grants for research and national and international speaking presentations.
He is married with three grown children. He has played the piano professionally and enjoys traveling, photography and scuba diving.
